Uganda’ butterfly species are day-flying and they regularly attract attention to those who love watching their beautiful colors. They feed primarily on nectar from flowers thus many of the species are common in the tropical rainforests of Uganda. By deriving nourishment from pollen, tree sap, rotting fruit, dung, and dissolved minerals in wet sand or dirt.Butterflies are important as pollinators for some species of plants although in general they do not carry as much pollen load as the birds. They are however capable of moving pollen over greater distances from one place to another.Butterflies can be found in Mabira, Bwindi, Mgahinga and Kibale Forests in great numbers with different species as earlier mentioned. The journey to the sites of the butterflies is 17 days of which day one is arrival, day two butterfly watching in Mabira, day three transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, day four butterfly watching in Kyambura and chimpanzee viewing as well, day five transfer to Bwindi and trek gorillas at day six, then day seven to eight whole day butterfly watching in the forest, day nine transfer to Kabale, day ten transfer to Kibale Forest, day eleven to twelve whole day in the forest, day thirteen transfer to Budongo, day fourteen to fifteen butterfly watching in the forest, day sixteen transfer to Kampala and finally departure can be on day seventeen.While in these forests, you will be able to do more than one activity as follows; Track gorillas in Bwindi and see other wildlife such as chimpanzee, lion, buffalo, hippo in Queen Elizabeth Park and in Kibale animals like elephants will also be seen.
